About Us

STOPDrugProhibition.com was created in October of '07 and was advertised to the public in early 2008. We are a soon to be non-profit organization. We strive to accurately educate the public about drugs & the Drug War. Once more people understand the counter-productive approach of our current drug policies they will be perceptive to changing or eliminating them. Instead, they will favor a smarter & more humane approach. SDP also offers non-judgmental harm reduction information for current drug users & treatment information for those who wish to get or stay clean. We don't promote or oppose drug use, but we do oppose the drug war. This is because the War on Drugs causes more problems than the drugs themselves.

Drugs are inanimate objects, so we're really waging a civil war against our own people. We believe in personal freedom & agree with Albert Einstein when he said that prohibition only makes the problems it claims to help much worse. Our approach to the drug problem is what sets up apart from those waging a counter-productive war on drugs. Our approach is designed to efficiently manage the drug problem based on logic & science. Those fighting the war on drugs only know of brute force & control with no regard for the data that says prohibition is counter-productive. They seem to have little regard for the harm they're doing to their society. SDP is in favor of drug legalization with reasonable regulations & restrictions. Again, this does not mean that we condone drug use, but rather we oppose current drug policies because they make the drug problem exponentially worse. Believe it or not, many of our goals are very similar to what the drug war was meant to accomplish, but was unable to achieve. However, we are an organization for anyone who is in favor of any amount of drug reform because anything is better than what we're doing to our society now!

Think legalizing drugs would be a crazy solution? This following video features LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) members who have a great deal of experience fighting in favor of the drug war in their past. Their experience led them to the conclusion that our drug war is the cause of most drug related problems. They believe the best solution to our drug problem is legalization & in this video they describe several of the benefits that legalizing drugs would have:

Many people have been led to believe that drug legalization or even decriminalization would result in pure pandemonium. This is completely ludicrous as most of America's history there were no laws against drugs. Countries that have experimented with decriminalization & other large reform programs have seen amazing results. Just like alcohol prohibition, the drug war has created many many many times over the very problems it was supposed to reduce. With alcohol prohibition they at least considered our individual rights by amending our Constitution, but haven't done so with drug laws. The mass media, legal drug corporations, & special interest driven government have led a campaign to portray the drug war positively & decriminalization or legalization as "crazy." They need the masses to believe that even decriminalization would result in chaos because otherwise they would have no logical ground to support their catastrophic war. If you go beyond the surface you'll see firsthand how the drug war's counter-productive & inhumane approach exponentially increases the harm it was meant to stop. Drug legalization is the only way to accomplish or come very close to achieving all of our goals. Goals that would make American society a much better & safer place. We believe that educating the public & continually exposing the flaws in our current drug policies will eventually lead the way to large drug reform movements. All that we ask is that you think objectively about the information we present & the case we make for our different goals, including legalization. We understand that legalization is not the end-all solution, but only a more promising beginning.

Legalization is our long-term goal, as it will solve or greatly improve our current drug problems. Since legalization is a long-term goal we have many short-term goals that we are working to achieve along the way. This allows us to work on improving smaller drug policies until we have the opportunity to completely revamp the entire system. Here are just a few of our many goals:

* Greatly reduce crime & completely eliminate drug-related black market crime caused by prohibition.

* Move towards treating drug use as a medical problem, instead of a criminal problem.

* Promote honest drug education for children & adults.

* Increase the availability, lower the cost, & expand the number of drug treatment options.

* Help promote disease reduction programs, such as needle exchanges & promote harm reduction information for drug users.

* Inform addicted mothers how to properly handle their addictions during pregnancy to safeguard themselves & their child.

*Save Americans tons of wasted tax dollars (currently about $70 billion/year) & for those in favor of a drug tax: generate even more in tax revenues!

* Reintroduce hemp without its negative stigma that was created by unfairly categorizing it along side marijuana.

*Stop the federal raids on state legalized medical marijuana dispensaries & their patients.

* Stop the erosion of our constitutional rights and empower the public through rights knowledge. Learn how to handle law enforcement encounters.

* Examine the flaws in our current drug policies & expose how they've been misrepresented as a productive use of money.

* Stop The DEA's overzealous crackdown on doctors who in most cases are only doing what they think is best for their patients.

* Fight mandatory minimum sentencing for non-violent drug offenses & stop non-violent drug death penalties! (Even selling large amounts of marijuana seeds can get someone the death penalty!)

* Work to exempt or maintain exemption of drug possession charges from three strike laws that some states have. Drug addicts don't belong in a program designed to punish serious habitual criminals.

* End various drug disparity laws such as the 100 to 1 cocaine to crack law, which unfairly targets inner-city residents (racial discrimination).

* Increase public understanding of how private prisons will hurt all American citizens, as they gain a foot-hold using the war on drugs.

* Restore law enforcement respect by regressing their responsibilities back to the apprehension of real criminals.

* Use the massive law enforcement manpower that is wasted on the drug war & refocus it back to criminals who are a threat to others. This will dramatically clean up real crime in neighborhoods that currently waste efforts chasing drug addicts.

Please take a moment to browse our site and consider this topic objectively and you too may be surprised. This topic has been misrepresented to the American people for a long time. We strive to present only accurate and objective information. We strive to remove the veil of myths & misconceptions presented by both sides on the drug war issue. Only by approaching this dilemna honestly & logically will we be able to find the underlying truths that will lead us to the best solution. This website has just recently gone live in the early months of 2008. So, if you're looking for information about why we hold these beliefs please browse our articles & check back often for more!

The War on Drugs has become more and more of a failure every day since its inception,
